Most of the gemstones you find in the following chart, I use in my jewelry. If you would like a photo of any stone, send me an email. Adventurine:         Med. Green with a mettalic iridescence caused by fuchsite (green
                                      mica) inclusions.  It has been used in traditional culture to promote
                                      leadership abilities.  From:  India & China

Other Adventurine Stones:  Purple, Pink, Blue, Dk. Green, Red.

Amethyst:              A violet or purple quartz. It's said to protect it's owner from drunken
                                     ness. It's a symbol of heavenly understanding and the pioneer in
                                     action & thought on philosophical, religious, spiritual & material
                                     planes. From:  Brazil, Zambia, Mexico. Februarys Birthstone.

Ametrine:              This stone comes in a varity of shades from pale lavender to deep
                                    purple to yellow-purple to yellow-orange. It's a combination of
                                    Amethyst and Citrine. Believed to relieve tension, bring serenity.
                                    From:  Bolivia.

Aquamarine:        Blue gemstone whose name originates from the Italian word for
                                     seawater. It's a member of the beryl family and related to the
                                     emerald. It's said to reconcile enemies and make them friends. It
                                     also called the sailor's stone of protection. From:  Brazil, Africa, USA
                                     Marchs Birthstone.

Azurite/                  A bright blue, with rich green inclusions. It's been used to promote
Malachite              flexibility in thought and action.  Zaire, Africa

Cameo:                   Seashell or Agate base. Hand painted work of art.  It's been said to
                                    be the symbol of love.
 
Carnelian:            Dull brown Agate, bright burnt-orange colored. It was used in
                                    Roman times to protect against envy, fear and rage.  Worldwide.

Citrine:                   Golden Yellow.  It's been used traditionally to attract wealth. From:
                                    Brazil. Novembers Birthstone.

Chalcedony,         Semi-Translucent blue stone.  It was used for cameos in ancient
Blue                          times.
 
Chrysoprase:        A malachite-turquoise mix. It has metaphysically been used to
                                     relieve stress and promote initiative.  From:  Arizona.

Chrysoprase        Characterized by bright intense color. From Austrailia.
Apple Green  

Chysoprase,         Bright lemon-yellow stone. It was used in Medieval times to promote
Lemon Yellow     presence of mind. From:  China

Chrysanth-          Mahogany-colored stone with flowered inclusions. It has been used

Coral, Pink          Med. Pink colored stone. Represents continuty and structure. 
Angelskin            Worldwide.

Coral, Pink          Lt. Pink colored stone.  Typically linked with friendship, platonic
                                   love & community. Worldwide.

Coral, Red            Med. Red Colored stone.  Promotes creativity, wisdom, courage, and
                                   love.  Worldwide.

Coral, White       This stone is a white, natural sea coral. It helps promote balance &
                                    modesty.  Worldwide.

Diopside,              Deep black stone cut in India, to reveal a 4-ray crossed star pattern
Black Star             as the stone moves. 

Emerald                 Deep Green Stone. It's been used to enhance memory.  From:  China.
                                    Mays Birthstone.

Garnet:                  A dark ruby colored stone. In Victorian times it was the favored
                                   stone in women's jewelry, as it symbolized fedility. From:  India. 
                                   Januarys Birthstone

Howlite                 This stone comes in four colors: Red, White, Blue, & Turquoise. It's
                                   traditionally been used to enhance memory.

Iolite                      Blue-violet stone. Vikings used it as a light polarizer, using it to see
                                  through the haze and determine the exact location of the sun on
                                  over-cast days.

Jade,                       Deep  green, semi-translucent stone. Among acient Mayans & Aztecs,
Nephrite               this stone was the stone of magic. Meant to be worn by priests, kings
                                   and gods.  From: Canada

Other types of Jade are:  Olive, Peach, New, Golden, Qing Hai, African, Black, Malaysian (multi color choices), Mountain (multi color choices), Sea Green New.

Jasper,
Dalmation          A tawny, cream-colored stone with black spots. Shamans often wore
                                  it to provide protection.  From:  Mexico

Jasper,
Leopardskin       A golden-tawny background with a touch of brown. From Mexico

Other types of  Jasper are:  Fancy, Ocean, Red, Moukaite, Periot, Autumn, Seasame, Green Lime, Kambaka, Picture, Brecciated, Zebra, Brown Snowflake, Picasso.

Labradorite        This stone has a grey background with green and blue flashes. It's a
                                   gem feld-spar (hard, and glassy mineral). 

Lapis Lazuli        This stone is blue with Lt blue inclusions.  This stones history stret-
                                    ches back to 700 BC. It was highly prized by the pharaohs of 
                                    acient Egypt. It's name means "stone of azure"

Malachite             It's a vibrant green carbonate mineral. It was used in green paint from
                                    antiquity ubtil about 1800. From:  Zaire, & Africa

Moonstone,          This is a mineral feldspar. It's a natural, warm peach color, with a
Peach                        "white moon" which rolls over the stone. 

Moonstone,         Translucent white color, with flashes of blue tint. It has an unexpected
Rainbow                 blue flash within the stone. It's one of the birthstones for June. It has
                                    been used to avoid tunnel vision. Life changing inspirations.

                               Other Moonstones are:  Silver, White.

Obsidian,               Volcanic glass, has a black background with Brownish-red patterns,
Mahogany             resembling the grain of mahogany hardwoods.  To the acient Aztecs
                                     this stone was the warrior's stone. From:  Mexico.

Obsidian,               Volcanic glass, this stone is black with white inclusions. From:  Mexico

Onyx,                       This is a deep black stone. it's tradionally been used to banish grief.
Black

Opal                         This is a white background stone with a look of multi-colored fire
                                    over the entire surface.  The Australian, Aboriginees say that this 
                                    stone was born when the storm god, jealous of it's beauty, shattered
                                    the rainbow lightning. They still use opals to invoke visions and to
                                    find the way to "dreamtime". Opals come in black aswell.

Pearl, Cultured   Available in many colors including white. Since time immemortal, the
Freshwatrer          pearl has represented innocence & purity. Elizabeth I of England was 
                                     so enamored of pearls she had 500,000 sewn onto just one gown. 
                                     From:   China

Pearl-Mother-      Cut from the golden lip shell. This stone is a warm tawny color with
of                                 iridescent flashes.  Worldwide

Pearl-Mother-      This is a silver-grey color, with a pearlescent sheen giving off a spect-
of-Black Lip            rum od colors. Cut from the black lip shell. Worldwide.


Peridot                     This stone is a magnesium & iron silicate (a salt), found in volcanic  
                                      areas.  This is a very odd gemstone. It was found in Egypian jewelry from
                                      early 2nd millenium BC. It came from a volcanic island in the Red Sea. 
                                      The acient Romans nick-named it the "Emerald of the Evening" 
                                      because it doesn't change in any type of light. From:  Arizona & Mexico.
                                      Augusts Birthstone.

Quartz, Rose         Translucent pink with lineal opaque pink patterns.  It's been tradition-
                                       ally used to heal broken hearts. From:  Madagascar, & India. Also Avail-
                                       able, Quartz Crystal.
                                  
Riversone                 This is a cream, grey & brown colored stone.

Rhodochrasire       This is a deep pink stone with swirls of cream.
                              

Rhodonite                 This is a pink stone with periodic patterns of black inclusions. It's
                                         traditionally been used to encourage gerosity of spirit.

Ruby                            This is a very bright, fuchsia-red semi-translucent gem. From: India.
                                        Julys Birthstone.

Sapphire                     Vivid Blue stone with subtle to minor inclusions.  This is called the
                                          "Stone of Prosperity". It's been said to eliminate frustration & to fullfil
                                          dreams. This stone can come in many differnt colors. Septembers
                                          Birthstone

Shell, Paua                This stone is available in many different colors. It has many swirling
                                         Shades of color throughout the stone. It's traditionally been used to
                                         stimulate creativity and imagination.

Shell, Pink                 This is a natural pink stone with iridescent sheen.
Tennessee
River Stone

Spinel                          Orange-red stone, these stones look a lot like Rubies. This stone is assoc-
                                        ated with love, & devotion to another. It's been used to promote longevity
                                        (this stone comes in many different colors and can be used as substitutes
                                         for some birthstones).
Sunstone                   This stone is orange, tan & pink with a metallic glitter sheen. This stone
                                        symbolizes protection, power, & energy.

Tanzanite                 Pale purple-blue stone. It's sometimes confused with Sapphire. It's
                                        traditionally associated with grace & spirit. From:  Africa

Tigereye                    This stone has alternating bands of golden-yellow & golden-brown cut
                                       parallel to its fibrous structure to maximize the chironmancy effect. This
                                       stone is said to promote clear-eye vision. This stone comes in many
                                       different colors. (comes in red aswell)

Turqouise               This is a most highly prized turquoise in the world today. Its  an intense med.                           med. blue. This stone has been used in religion, art, trade, treaty negot-

Unakite                   Med Green stone with breaks of red.
